Biography

Saskia Buhr was born on March 1, 2006 in Tbilisi, Georgia, to a German father and a Georgian mother. She grew up immersed in two cultures, two languages, and two artistic traditions — the expressionist legacy of her father, painter Heiner Buhr, and the rich visual culture of Georgia.

In 2021 she spent a year as an exchange student at the Otto Nagel Gymnasium in Berlin, deepening her connection to German language and culture. Back in Tbilisi, she completed her Abitur at the 1st Gymnasium in 2024 and immediately enrolled at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts to study painting.

Her work is instinctive and unrestrained — large canvases filled with animals, human figures, and mythological creatures rendered in bold, luminous color. She paints in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, and also creates digital works and NFTs.

In 2025 she sold her first painting at auction at the IART Gallery in Tbilisi for $125 — the beginning of a professional career that is only just starting.
